Mani Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil 1000ML

The secret of our quality we owe to the world-wide unique combination of local factors, the high intensity and duration of sunshine with a few hours of rain and the rocky mineral-rich mountain soil in close proximity to the sea.

These factors produce the Koroneiki variety, autochtonous of the Mani, which yields what is recognizably one of the best oils in the world, fresh, mildly fruity and characterized by a pleasant aroma of herbs and wild flowers, and a slightly spicy flavour.

MANI is the pioneer of organic olive oil in Greece. The main factors for producing high quality olive oil are the environment (the soil, the climate) and the olive tree variety.

The Mani region in Greece offers ideal growing conditions, well established varieties which together with century-old olive-growing technical skills result in what is referred to as “green gold”.

MANI olive oil comes from the Koroneiki olive, harvested by hand and exclusively cold extracted to achieve the highest quality. Only the best olive oils from small family farms who cultivate their olive groves traditionally and organically are selected to be part of the Mai brand.

MANI extra virgin olive oil delivers fresh, mildly fruity aromas of almond, artichoke and wild herbs. Kalamata P.D.O. Extra virgin olive oil is a Protected Designation of Origin product from the region of Kalamata. Its fresh, mildly fruity aroma of herbs and wild flowers with slightly spicy finishing promises maximum enjoyment.

MANI olive oils are regularly awarded best in class in international food competitions. Most oils are Naturland Fair certified.

Olive oil tastes good and is good for you. MANI extra virgin olive oils contain high levels of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. In contrast to seed oils and animal fats, olive oil has been shown to assist in the reduction of cholesterol levels. In addition, MANI extra virgin olive oil is rich in phytochemicals such as vitamin E and polyphenols; antioxidants which contribute to cell health and which have anti-inflammatory properties.

“Hardly anything is more fun than doing business out of love for the world!”

    Founder Fritz Bläuel

Appreciation, vision and team spirit aimed at sustainable success.

Appreciation for man and nature has always been the basis of all economic activity for the Bläuel family. Fritz and Burgi Bläuel came to the Mani in the late 1970s in search of an alternative way of life.

They soon started building up an organic agriculture project together with the local olive farmers and oil-millers. With entrepreneurial vision, respect for people and for the cultural landscape of the Mani together with much effort and enthusiasm, they managed to unite the farmers.

Through effectively communicating to the farmers the benefits of organic agriculture and the associated market opportunities they gradually gained their cooperation and support.

The fruit of this cooperation was Greece’s first Organic certified olive oil, that is today exported worldwide. In 2009, Fritz and Burgi’s son Felix joined the company management and contributes to setting new goals for the future.

Goals such as the recently obtained Naturland Fair certification, which makes the long-term environmental and social commitment of the company transparent and measurable.

Ethical business in harmony with man and nature has been the hallmark of the Bläuel family business for over 30 years.

The fruits of their labour are not in the form of award winning MANI organic extra virgin olive oils, organic olives and organic mezes but also in the preservation of Mani’s cultural landscape as the centre of traditional, organic olive cultivation in Greece.

    Sustainability

With the conversion to organic farming of the olive groves in Mani more than 30 years ago and the companies long standing corporate values, Bläuel’s business orientation towards sustainability is not a last-minute direction.

The goal is still to strengthen organic cultivation in the ancient agricultural landscape of Mani and thus to promote the biodiversity of the region in terms of environmental sustainability.

The company supports various social projects, such as a nursing home, SOS Children’s Villages and GAIA, a civil society organization that, among other things, runs a volunteer fire department and performs various rescue operations.

This, together with the regional ethical and fair procurement of raw materials from small farmers, promotes sustainable social development in the region. Naturland Fair certification makes this long-standing social commitment transparent, measurable and controllable.

Of course, for Bläuel as for the rest of the world sustainable energy is a major issue. With its own photovoltaic system at the company headquarters, Bläuel has been almost energy-neutral since 2010.

We are proud to use recyclable packaging material for our products, and always strive to reduce it as much as possible. In the family hotel, Mani Sonnenlink Boutique Resort, the first and only organic hotel in Greece, the same sustainability criteria play an important role.

Consumers who buy and appreciate MANI products support and contribute to these developments and can experience a part of MANI’s sustainability at home.

As part of the drive to “reduce waste-reuse-recycle”, we use easily removable labels with a special glue, so that when the delicious contents of our jars and bottles are used up, our customers can easily reuse the pretty glass containers for their homemade preserves or to store food.
